AfterWindow Company in West Athens, CA
Hale Windows & Doors handles window replacement, window repair, and front door replacement throughout West Athens, CA. Most homes here are 1920s to 1950s single-story stucco bungalows with original wood sash windows, and the marine air from the nearby coast keeps humidity high enough that wood swells, binds, and rots at the sills. That means West Athens jobs usually come down to replacing one window or door at a time, sealing out damp air and street noise, and getting a written price before any work begins. Call (252) 675-6980 for a free estimate.
Why West Athens Homes Are Different
West Athens sits in the South Bay/LAX coastal-influenced zone. Overnight dew and marine air keep original wood windows and doors damp for hours each morning, and decades of that cycle leave sashes painted shut, sills rotted, and frames that bind when the wood swells. At the same time, late-summer heat and Santa Ana winds bake west-facing and south-facing units, so the same house can have a rotted sill on one side and a heat-cracked frame on the other.
The housing stock is mostly 1,000 to 1,400 square foot wood-frame bungalows and minimal traditional houses. Many still have their original double-hung wood sash windows. Detached garages are common, and a fair number have been converted into ADUs or used as workshops. In the blocks near the 110/105 interchange, freeway noise and diesel particulate are a daily reality, so window replacement in West Athens is as much about sound attenuation and sealing out exterior grime as it is about energy efficiency. Homeowners here tend to be long-term owner-occupants rather than flippers, which means work is often phased: one window this year, a door next year, as budget allows.
Our Main West Athens Services
Homeowners in West Athens call us most often for window replacement and window repair, and front door replacement is a close third. Each service has its own page with local pricing and details.
Window Replacement in West Athens
Most replacement jobs in West Athens involve pulling original wood double-hung windows from 1920s to 1950s stucco bungalows and installing new units that seal tightly and cut freeway noise. We measure, order, and install with a written price in hand before work starts. Low-E glass (a thin coating that blocks heat while letting light through) is standard on most jobs, and we match the right product from lines like PGT, CWS, and ES Windows to the house rather than pushing one brand. Learn more on our Window Replacement in West Athens page.
Window Repair in West Athens
West Athens window repair usually means freeing painted-shut sashes, replacing rotted sills, re-glazing loose glass, and repairing broken balances on double-hung units. The damp air near the LAX corridor keeps wood frames swelling and sticking, so these are recurring issues on older bungalows. Every repair carries a written guarantee, and if a repair fails, the second visit is free. See our Window Repair in West Athens page for details.
Front Door Replacement in West Athens
Front doors in West Athens take a beating from morning dew, afternoon sun, and street grime near the 110 and 105. We replace rotted wood doors, upgrade to insulated steel or fiberglass from Therma-Tru, and make sure the threshold seals tight against damp air and noise. Every front door replacement is quoted in writing before work begins. Visit the Front Door Replacement in West Athens page for pricing.

Whatever the number is, you get a written price before any work starts, and that price does not change mid-job.
